Fish Farmers Advised To Maintain Water Level In Ponds

MUZAFFARGARH, (Muzaffargarh.City – 21st Oct, 2016 ) : District officer fisheries Syed Baqar Hussain Kazmi said on Friday that fish catching season was drawing nearer and fish farmers need to maintain water level in ponds at five feet.

Talking to a gathering of fish farmers at Alipur Shumali during a training session, he said that fish farmers must not let the quality of water in ponds compromised and put organic and inorganic material in ponds in accordance with the advice from experts.

Fish farmers should rely on Urea application for creation of natural food in ponds for fish. He further advised that farmers should maintain the oxygen level in ponds at 10 ppm and should not exceed this limit.

Moreover, PH value should not be more than 9. He said that farmers should start catching those fish from ponds which have attained the weight of 1.5 kilogram, adding that it would improve growth of other fish.
