CM Inaugurates Patient Transfer System

LAHORE, June 6 (Muzaffargarh.City – 06th Jun, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said the provincial government had allocated a huge amount of Rs 230 billion for the health sector in the annual budget 2017-18.

This amount was 15 per cent of the total budget, he said adding that tt was satisfying that different steps taken for betterment of healthcare facilities were proving fruitful and people were getting relief.

The chief minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of patient transfer system here at Model Town. The patient transfer service was a revolutionary step of the Punjab government through which patients from tehsil headquarters hospitals and district headquarters hospitals were being shifted to large hospitals free of charge, he said and added special desks had been set up in hospitals which he had also witnessed in Chiniot hospital.

He said provision of quality healthcare services was the prime agenda of his government, adding that all-out resources were being utilised for the purpose. New CT scan machines were being provided in 36 districts of the province.

It would be a unique system as the service provider company would also be responsible for its operation, he said and added the installation of the CT scan machines would provide 24 hours CT scan facility to the needy patients free.

Similarly, he said, 40 tehsils and district headquarters hospitals were being revamped and they were being provided with the latest healthcare facilities. The Punjab government had adopted an effective strategy for the eradication of hepatitis disease and hepatitis clinic was providing healthcare facilities to patients in Lahore and such filter clinics would be established in the province in the next few months, he said.

The work was in progress speedily for the establishment of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute in the provincial capital and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would inaugurate the project on December 25 this year, he added.

The chief minister said a 250-bed Government Tayyip Erdogan Hospital was being established in Muzaffargarh by the Punjab government from its own resources. A trust headed by a saint-hearted Dr Bari would operate this hospital.

Similarly, he said, a kidney center in Multan, and the hospitals being established in suburbs of the provincial capital would also be run by this trust. He said an international standard drug testing lab was being established in the city while the drug testing lab had been made fully functional and foreign trained permanent staff had also been appointed there.

Replying to questions of the media, the chief minister said indiscriminate accountability should be held. He added all should be held accountable if accountability was required but victimization should be avoided.

A question about the picture of Hussain Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif said this child was made to sit there. He had not done corruption, usurped loans of billions of rupees and not plundered even a penny of anybody.

He said the most transparent projects were being established with speed of the Muslim League-N in the country. Sahiwal Coal Power Project, which was earlier scheduled to be completed on December 25, 2017 but this project was completed eight months earlier and billions of rupees were also saved.

Later, Shehbaz Sharif gave the key of an ambulance under Patient Transfer System to DG Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer. Provincial ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Health Secretaries, Assembly Members and officials concerned were also present.
