Construction Work On Fish-hatchery At PakPattan From Dec
MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 10th Nov, 2016 ) : The Fisheries Department would start construction work on 12-acre fish-hatchery at Muhammad Nagar, PakPattan area, for production of fish seed in December.
Deputy Director Fisheries Rana Riasat told APP here Thursday that Rs 15 million would be spent on the project, which would be completed by year-end. He said that land had been acquired in Chak 63/EB.
Rana said that they were producing over 400,000 fish seed every year in Multan, adding that the proper season of fish- seed is May and June.
He said that fish seed would be provided to fish farmers on fixed rates, issued by the Punjab government.
He said that Muzaffargarh district was producing 60 per cent of the whole fish production in the province, adding that farmers were focusing on producing catfish including soul, singhari and malli. He said that 90 per cent construction work on firstever largest fish hatchery in South Punjab at Fazilpur, Rajanpur, area consisting on 256 acres of land had been completed.
