60 Power Pilferers Caught In A Day In South Punjab
MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 21st May, 2019 ) ::The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) caught 60 power pilferers during operations throughout South Punjab in a day, an official said on Tuesday.
Mepco teams accompanying task forces raided different places in Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, and Dera Ghazi Khan last Monday (May 20) and detected theft of 142,000 units, Mepco spokesman said.
A sum of over Rs 2.
6 million was imposed as fine on power pilferers while FIRs were got registered against sixteen of them on charges of tampering with body of meters, direct supply, installing loop in meters, slowing down meters, meter dead stop and meter screen wash.
Details show that five power pilferers were caught in Multan, a dozen in Dera Ghazi Khan, two in Vehari, three in Bahawalpur, five in Sahiwal, eight in Rahimyar Khan, twenty in Muzaffargarh, two in Bahawalnagar, and three in Khanewal.
