Suspected Congo Patient At Nishtar Tested Positive
MULTAN, , (Muzaffargarh.City – 26th May, 2017 ) : A suspected Congo patient, who was admitted at the Nishtar Hospital a few days back, tested positive here on Friday, an official source at the hospital said.
16-year-old Aleena of Muzaffargarh was brought to the health facility a few days back from where she was referred to isolation ward, the source said. The patient has been suffering from high fever for the last 10 days, he said and added that she had also been also bleeding from mouth and nose for the last 5 days.
He stated that the patients had no history of handling cattle.
When contacted, Focal person for infectious diseases at Nishtar, Dr Kamran Adil, confirmed that Aleena was tested positive for Congo today.
“We have kept the patient in isolation ward. Tests of Aleena were sent to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, for confirmation whether she was suffering from Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) or not. Today, we received her reports which declared her tested positive for Congo.” he informed. He, however, said the patient was stable now.
