Pb CM Visits South Punjab Hospitals
LAHORE, (Muzaffargarh.City – 16th Aug, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday visited Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of Punjab Hospital Muzaffargarh and Emine Erdogan Danish Care School Baseera Town Muzaffargarh.
During his visit to Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases, the Chief Minister inquired after the patients and asked about treatment facilities. He expressed strong indignation to the administration on non-availability of medicines, mismanagement and poor cleanliness condition of the hospital.
He went to a patient and asked about treatment. The Chief Minister took strict notice of a complaint by some patients regarding free of cost provision of medicines and expressed strong resentment.
Addressing hospital administration, Shehbaz Sharif said that hundred percent patients should be provided free medicines and directed hospital administration to return hundred percent money to those patients who have purchased medicines themselves.
He said that construction of modern hospital at a cost of billions of rupees does not mean that the patients should have to purchase medicines from their own pocket. He said administration of hospital should know that he is representative of the poor and not of them.
The Chief Minister said that all out funds are being provided by the government to the hospitals for the provision of best treatment facilities to the patients. Despite this, he will not tolerate the situation of non-provision of free medicines to some patients, he added.
Majority of the patients informed the Chief Minister that they are getting free medicines while some patients complained regarding purchase of medicines from outside the hospital. Shehbaz Sharif visited all sections of outdoor and he was informed that process of free dialysis of the patients has been started in the institute and at present, 40 dialysis machines are operational.
Upon entry of saline in a wall of newly constructed hospital, the Chief Minister ordered suspension of SE, XEN, SDO and concerned staff of Building Department and said that inquiry into the matter should be conducted by Chief Minister Inspection Team and action will be taken as per law against the responsible.
Taking notice of long queues of patients, the Chief Minister said that patients should be made comfortable and standing of patients in long queues is improper. He said if there is shortage of staff in the hospital then it should be increased as provision of facilities to the patients is top priority of the government.
He said that provision of facilities to the patients is the responsibility of administration. He said that good hospitals are those which have Masihas whose attitude towards patients is decent. He said that construction of building and provision of equipment is our task.
Shehbaz Sharif said that each and every penny of the funds being spent on the hospitals will be ensured to the poor patients. His government has taken the responsibility of treatment of kidney patients, he added.
He said that responsibility of treatment of kidneys of poor people will be fulfilled and no hurdle will be tolerated in this regard. He said that resources of Pakistan are for the poor people and caring for the poor persons and providing quality treatment to them is our responsibility.
Talking to the media after his visit to the hospital, Shehbaz Sharif said that he has come to the hospital for second time and it is unfortunate that the drawbacks and faults seen during his first visit have not improved considerably.
The faults observed in the construction of the building have not removed and he is grieved over it. He said that Chief Minister Inspection Team and Anti Corruption Team have been directed to reach Multan which will submit reports after conducting enquiry into the entire matter.
However, Superintending Engineer, XEN and SDO have been suspended on displaying negligence in their duty so that fair inquiry could be conducted. He said that as far as provision of medicines and medical facilities to the patients from the hospital is concerned, he has asked from the patients during his visit to the hospital.
He said that some patients have complained regarding non- provision of medicines which is intolerable. He said that hundred percent funding has been made in the hospital and the patients should be provided medicines free of cost at every cost.
He said that complete inquiry will be conducted regarding the complaints received during the visit.
The CM said that an officer has been sent for inspection of the medicines of the hospital who will check the stock of medicines and review the quantity of medicines received in the hospital and distrusted among the patients.
He said it is not justified that some patients are provided medicines in the hospitals and others are deprived. Shehbaz Sharif said if system of provision of medicines has been computerized then it is not possible that medicines are provided to some patients while others are deprived.
He said there was no water in the room where he went to wash his hands which is regrettable. If water is not available in a room of so-called VIP culture then what will be the condition of common patients, he added.
The Chief Minister said that he is very unhappy to see such situation. He said that setting the system of hospitals right is responsibility of health department, administration and concerned institutions.
He said that Allah helps those who help themselves. Replying to a question, Shehbaz Sharif said that he will again come to the hospital after some days and added that process of transplantation of kidneys will be started at the earliest.
Replying to another question regarding use of protocol by son of Medical Superintendent of Nishter Hospital, the Chief Minister said that he himself does not use protocol and how can he allow anyone to use protocol.
Shehbaz Sharif said that he has come here on a wagon however action will be taken if violation occurred in this regard. He said that implementation on the decision of provision of hundred percent free medicines in the hospitals will be implemented in letter and spirit and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
Later, Shehbaz Sharif went to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of Punjab Hospital, Muzaffargarh and inspected extension project of the hospital. He reviewed progress of construction work and expressed his satisfaction.
He said that with the completion of this project the number of beds will be increased to 250 in the hospital. Completion of extension project will result in availability of quality and modern medical facilities to the people of south Punjab, he added.
The CM said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh is providing modern facilities of treatment to the masses of the area. He directed that the construction work of the hospital would be speedily forwarded along with speed and quality.
He said that no compromise would be made on quality while third party inspection of the project will also be conducted. A briefing was given to the Chief Minister regarding progress on extension project of the hospital.
The Chief Minister also went to Emine Erdogan Danish Care Girls School Baseera Town Muzzaffargarh. He went to every class room and talked to the girl students. The Chief Minister explained the philosophy of Quaid-e-Azam with the help of verses of Allama Iqbal.
He also gave autographs to the children and he wrote advisable words along with autographs. Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had made one Pakistan for all.
Unfortunately, Pakistan of the rich and of the poor has become separate and we are determined to remove this disparity. He said that education is the real jewelry as other ornaments can be stolen while the education works during the whole life.
He advised the girl students to make hard work, honesty and commitment as their mission and they will continue to succeed. He said their bright faces are witnessing that the future of Pakistan is bright.
Shehbaz Sharif said that he wants to see the similar stranded in all government schools. It is his mission and we will succeed in it at all costs, he added. He said that this school is a living symbol of Pak-Turk friendship.
He said that people of Pakistan have great love for President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani nation acknowledges his public services. He said that Turkey has supported Pakistan in every difficult time including earthquake and storm.
He said that new journey of Pak-Turk relations has started during the tenure of PML-N and these institutions are shining examples of increasing Pak-Turk friendship. Provincial Minister for Health Kh. Salman Rafiq, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Secretary Health, District and Administrative Officers were also present on the occasion.
