Mepco Approves Rs 87.5m For Transformers Reclaimation Workshop

MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 24th Jul, 2017 ) : Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Monday approved establishment of a transformers reclamation workshop in Dera Ghazi Khan at a cost of Rs 87.5 million for timely repair of faulty and damaged transformers.

Mepco accorded approval in its BoD meeting held here, Mepco spokesman said adding that the facility would have the capacity to repair 100 faulty transformers in a month. According to Mepco GM operations Sarfraz Ahmad Haraj, it would be the fourth such workshop to be set up in Mepco region and added that Mepco Chief Executive Officer Masud Salahuddin was taking special interest in the development initiatives.

The workshop would repair faulty transformers from Mepco divisions including DG Khan, Rajanpur, Taunsa, Muzaffargarh, Alipur, Kot Addu, Layyah and nearby areas. The workshop would become operational by the end of ongoing month of July 2017, the spokesman said.

Three such workshops were already working in Multan, Bahawalpur and Vehari. Mepco BoD also gave approval for deployment of 56 officers and officials at the workshop including assistant manager, test inspector/ LS-1, foreman, test assistant, junior storekeeper, assistant foreman, senior clerk, 40 daily wage employees, and other staff, spokesman added.
