MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 28th Feb, 2018 ) :A draw was held at Mango Research Institute (MRI) here Wednesday for distribution of spray machines among farmers at subsidized price under Chief Minister’s Kissan Package.
Kissan package is a unique programme launched by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif under which agriculture machinery was being provided to farmers at subsidized prices in a transparent manner to encourage mechanized farming and improve financial standing of small farmers, said Additional deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Barak Ullah Khan while speaking at the draw ceremony.
ADCG said that the agriculture machinery was being provided to farmers of cotton rich districts including Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Muzaffargarh, says an official release.
He said that Rs 3000 subsidy was being provided by Punjab government on hand sprayers, Rs 15,000 subsidy on Power Sprayer, and Rs 50,000 subsidy on tractor mounted boom sprayers. He added that hand sprayers would be distributed among farmers at the rate of five farmers per union council, power sprayers (two per union council) and tractor mounted boom sprayer (one per UC).
He congratulated the successful farmers and informed them that Mar 15 was the last date for farmers to contact the pre- qualified manufacturers for booking so that they can get their sprayers by March 30.
