All Previous Records Of South Punjab Development Broken: MPs
LAHORE, (Muzaffargarh.City – 17th Aug, 2017 ) : Lawmakers from South Punjab on Thursday termed Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif a benefactor for southern Punjab, who has completed a record number of public welfare projects in the area in his tenure.
Talking to APP, they said that all previous records of development have been broken in the region during the PML-N governmnet and the people of southern Punjab love Shehbaz Sharif from the core of their hearts due to his people-friendly policies and good governance.
Member National Assembly Awais Legahri said that the Punjab government had brought about a revolution in agriculture sector by taking historic steps for the development of agriculture sector and prosperity for the farming community.
He said that Rs 30 billion worth metro bus project had been providing excellent services to the people of Multan. Awais Leghari said that announcement of Safe City Project for Multan, establishment of Daanish school in Lodhran, Safe City Project in Bahawalpur and various rapid bus services in major districts of the southern Punjab would open a new era of prosperity in the region.
A senior official in the Planning and Development department said that a mega programme of provision of clean drinking water was going to be started from southern Punjab which would commence in all tehsils of the region and the very initiative would help eradicate water-borne diseases.
Management of Multan Kidney Hospital will be taken over by the Indus Trust in June next and an increase of 250-beds is being made in Govt Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital near Muzaffargarh, Leghari added.
MPA Rana Mehmood-ul-Hasan said that revolutionary steps of the Punjab chief minister have ushered in a new era of development in southern Punjab.
He said that provision of ample funds for different development schemes by the CM has won the hearts of the people.
Replying to a query, he said that Khanewal-Lodhran Road Project has been started with an amount of Rs 22 billion and Muzaffargarh-DG Khan dual carriageway will be made during the current year with an expenditure of Rs 17 billion.
Mehmood-ul-Hassan said that the chief minister had ordered for establishing Safari Park in Multan, adding that historic Nishtar Medical College had been given the status of a medical university in addition to setting up sub-campus of Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University in Khanewal.
He said that establishment of five new universities, medical colleges and hospital was a historic initiative and small farmers were also being provided interest-free loans. Bahawalpur Mayor Aqeel Anjum said that approval of mega development projects in south Punjab showed the government priority of raising the living standards of people of south Punjab.
He said that this would bring about a positive change in the lives of the people. “Spending billions of rupees on education, health, agriculture and social sectors will improve the quality of services in these sectors,” he added.
Anjum said that the PML-N government has made the historic investment of improving law & order and the billions of rupees investment made in different sectors including education, healthcare and transport has benefitted the common man. To a question, Aqeel Anjum said that the first engineering university would be completed by the end of the year in Rahim Yar Khan.
