Project To Produce Fish In Saline & Brackish Water In Progress
MULTAN, Jan 5 (Muzaffargarh.City – 05th Jan, 2017 ) : The first ever Saline & brackish water project for producing fish in Khangarh, district Muzaffargarh is in progress at a cost of Rs 197 million.
Talking to APP here on Thursday, Deputy Director fisheries Rana Riasat said that producing fish in saline and brackish water was very difficult, adding that fisheries department had launched the project as pilot project in South Punjab.
He said that about 60 percent construction work had been completed, adding that 55 acre state land near Danda Ghazanfar Wala Khan Garh had been acquired for the project.
Rana said the S&B water project would be made operational in June 2018.
He informed that three turbines including a solar turbine had been installed there. He said that a laboratory was being constructed to facilitate the local people for soild and water analysis. He stated that a hatchery would also be constructed in near future there. He said that two types of fish including prawn (Jheenga) and Talabia were being produced in the saline & brackish water.
