MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 05th Oct, 2016 ) : Students of government schools in four districts of South Punjab under a project are getting training to detect food adulteration in domestic meals and spotting malnutrition.
The project is a joint venture of the Higher education Commission (HEC) and the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture( MNSUA). Project Head Prof Hafsa Umer told APP on Wednesday that public schools of rural areas of Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan had been selected.
“We have chosen five public schools in each district giving preference to female students of classes 8,9 and 10 for sensitising them on these two important issues,” she said.
After getting training, these students would go door-to-door of their areas to create awareness among women, Prof Hafsa said.
Regarding malnutrition, she said it included over nutrition and under nutrition adding that the former meant consumption of junk food like pizzas, burger, shawarma etc while latter stands for skipping breakfast or any other meal.
The project would be completed within three months, she said and added that they had completed training in Multan district schools in the first phase while in the second phase they were imparting training in Bahawalpur district this week.
