Rescue 1122 Initiates National Challenge For CERTs

LAHORE, (Muzaffargarh.City – 26th Nov, 2018 ) :Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) on Monday initiated National Challenge for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) to improve professional emergency response capacity of CERTs and develop resilient communities in the country.

Former Scottish Parliamentarian Hanzala Malik along with Rescue 1122 DG Rizwan Naseer inaugurated National CERTs Challenge at Emergency Services academy (Rescue 1122).

Rizwan Naseer welcomed all volunteer teams and said the main purpose of conducting this challenge was to provide a platform to volunteers for healthy competition and encourage the best CERT/volunteer teams. He asserted that CERTs challenge would also enhance coordination amongst teams and Service for management of emergencies and safety promotion.

Speaking on the occasion, Former Scottish Parliamentarian Hanzala Malik said that all volunteers and team of Rescue 1122, who made this initiative successful deserve appreciation, adding that this purposeful exercise would raise the competition amongst teams which would also enhance the capacity of the volunteers on disaster response at the grass root level.

A total of 37 volunteer teams from all over country were participating in a three-day challenge, where senior officers of Rescue Headquarters & Emergency Services Academy would assess, analyze and evaluate Community Action for Disaster Response (CADRE) skills of all participating teams.

The CERTs from Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, D.G Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Sialkot participated on first day, whereas CERTs from Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, M.B Din, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Vehari, Khanewal and Narowal would participate on the second day and teams from Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Saab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, T.T Singh, Bhawalnagar, Lodhran, Gujrat andGujranwala, would take part on the third day.
