Quality Healthcare To Masses At Every Cost:CM

LAHORE, (Muzaffargarh.City – 29th Aug, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that positive results of reforms have been yielded for bringing improvement in the healthcare system and vowed that the mission of provision of quality healthcare to the masses will be fulfilled at every cost.

I shall not take rest till the improvement of treatment facilities in hospitals, he said and added that every effort would be made to achieve the targets set for the betterment of health sector.

Giving approval to the plan of establishing the management of teaching hospitals on modern lines, the Chief Minister said that the programme would be initiated as a pilot project. Giving approval to the procurement of more ventilators for teaching hospitals, he directed that the process of procurement of ventilators be initiated soon.

The Chief Minister stated this while addressing the meeting through video link. The meeting which lasted for three hours held a detailed review of health sector reforms and progress on health related projects.

It also reviewed the proposed incentive package for hiring foreign experts in government hospitals. The Chief Minister directed that the incentive package should be given final shape at the earliest so as to provide best of the best healthcare facilities to the people.

The meeting also approved the project of the establishment of medical stores for the supply chain of medicines in the Punjab. The Chief Minister directed to speedily implement the project and said that no stone should be left unturned to speedily complete the ongoing health projects in the province.

He said that new hospitals would be establishmed on public private partnership basis in future in Punjab and the devised model be implemented everywhere. He said that prime Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme was successfully being implemented in four of the districts in the province and directed that third party validation of ongoing Health Insurance Scheme in four districts be conducted.

He said that steps should be taken speedily to enhance the scope of this programme in all the districts of the province. Under Health Insurance Scheme, the poorest of the poor families were getting quality healthcare facilities in public and private hospitals free of cost.

He said the Punjab government was setting up state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) in the provincial metropolis at a cost of billion of rupees and patients of kidney and liver would be treated free of cost in this institution.

He said that Punjab Hepatitis Control Programme was being implemented in an effective manner and latest hepatitis filter clinics were also being established throughout the province. There would be no strikes in these filter clinics but patients would be treated.

The establishment of hepatitis filter clinics was a big service to ailing humanity and the hepatitis patients were being given medicines through courier service at their doorsteps. He said that janitorial services had been outsourced in the hospitals and directed that quality of these services should be further improved.

He said that speed of work on extension project of Government Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh be further accelerated. He said that drug testing lab had been modernized and vowed that the business of fake and substandard medicines would be totally eliminated from the province.

He said that Khadim-e-Aala Ambulance Service that had been started in the rural areas had provided big facility to the rural women. He directed that the programme of installation of incinerators for waste management in hospitals be expedited.

He said that postgraduate training programme had been improved and this programme would be launched as a pilot project. Provincial Ministers Kh. Salman Rafiq, Kh. Imran Nazir, Advisor Dr. Umer Saif, Chief Secretary, ACS, Chairman P&D, Health Secretaries and concerned officials attended the meeting from Civil Secretariat through video link.
