PTS Shifted Over 100,000 Emergency Critical Patients

LAHORE, (Muzaffargarh.City – 16th Aug, 2017 ) : Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out a performance review of Patient Transfer Service (PTS) of the last six months at the Emergency Services Headquarters here on Wednesday.

The Provincial Monitoring Cell briefed the Director General and said the PTS shifted over 100,000 emergency critical patients from lower to higher specialized healthcare facilities in Punjab during the last six months.

The DG said, “We are working in close coordination with the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department to facilitate the public in the provision of healthcare facilities”. He said that following the Turkish Healthcare System, Punjab had begun overhauling its healthcare system under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

He said the Turkish Model shows that it was quite possible to achieve major improvements in healthcare performance in a relatively short period of time while utilizing available resources strategically.

Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Rescuers assigned additional duties for PTS had made it possible to ensure smooth, swift and strategical services delivery thus serving the public in real sense. He further said the Chief Minister Punjab had appreciated the Rescuers for ensuring services delivery through Patient Transfer Service.

Moreover, the PTS has started Feedback System through which we are getting firsthand information of healthcare issues of the patients, he added. According to the data, 4882 referral cases were witnessed in Muzaffargarh, 4871 in Multan, 4589 in Sheikhupura, 4442 in Khanewal, 4137 in Kasur, 4136 in Lahore, 4129 in Faisalabad, 3936 in Rahim Yar Khan, 3826 in Gujranwala and others.

The DG directed the District Emergency Officers to take up the issues with the Deputy Commissioners concerned keeping in view the nature of data of patients’ referral during monthly meetings of District Emergency Boards.
