Lahore (Muzaffargarh.City – 7th April, 2019) Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) said that the electricity production has reduced because of the ban on electricity production through furnace oil.
PEPCO said that the electricity shortfall has increased to 4000-5000 MW. This shortfall is expected to rise to 6000 MW.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub has given a contrasting statement.
According to the minister, the country is not facing any shortfall and electricity production is beyond demand.
The minister for energy said that loadshedding is being held in areas having power theft while PEPCO says loadshedding is being conducted because of the sudden increase in electricity shortfall.
According to PEPCO, there has been a 6000 MW fall in electricity production because of the delay in RLCG import. Because of this, only 13,500 MW electricity could be produced against the demand of 18,000 MW.
PEPCO sources said that Jamshoro and Muzaffargarh power plants are also not operational, causing a fall in electricity production but according to Omar Ayub, electricity production is sufficient.
