Over 300 Special Women Imparted Training

MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 4th May, 2018 ) :More than 300 physically challenged women from grass-roots level have been imparted leadership training on inclusive development through formation of self-help groups and awareness advocacy programme.

It will helped them become a constructive part of Pakistan’s social fabric through active community participation. The programme was conducted by the Society for Special Persons (SSP), founded by Ms Zahida Qureshi, who is actively working for the rights of the disabled persons.

The society partnered with Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited (PMPKL) for the project. The initiative is one of the several initiatives undertaken by PMPKL to promote women empowerment as part of its sustainability agenda.

The programme has successfully been carried out in 10 districts of Punjab including Multan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Lodhran, DG Khan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rajanpur, Khanewal and Bahawalpur. Speaking on the occasion of launching ceremony of these self-help groups, Chief Guest Bilal Ahmed Butt, Commissioner Multan Division appreciated the initiative.

He said, “We all need to make a collective effort to promote the well being of special persons as they have full potential to accomplish great milestones for Pakistan globally.” Dr Izharul Haq, Director Programme at Punjab Welfare Trust, also spoke on the occasion. Ten customised wheel chairs and gifts were also distributed among special persons at the ceremony.
