MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 05th Jan, 2018 ) :Agriculture experts have advised farmers to complete sunflower sowing at suitable time specified area-wise by the agriculture department pleading that delayed sowing not only reduces production but also the oil content.
In a release issued by media liaison unit of Punjab agriculture department here Friday, experts said that farmers in Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, and Multan should complete sowing by Jan 31.
Those in Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Lodhran, Rajanpur and Bakhar should complete sowing from Jan 10 to Feb 20.
Farmers of Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Jhang, Sahiwal, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Attock, Rawalpindi, Gujrat and Chakwal can complete sowing from Jan 25 to end February.
Farmers should select good quality hybrid seed that must be clean and have better germination strength and apply it at the rate of 2-2.5 kilogram per acre for sowing.
