MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 24th Apr, 2018 ) :A proposal has been sent to Punjab Archaeology Department for conservation of the tomb of Hazrat Sheikh Ladhu under annual development plan (ADP 2018-19), official sources said.
The monument belongs to Salateen period and resembles with the tomb of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani. The tomb was constructed in cut, dressed and fine brick masonry. It is located about 20-km from Muzaffargarh toward north-west and in the north of Thermal Power Station, in a graveyard.
The monument is salt affected. The Kankar lime plaster is damaged and perforated terracotta Jali are missing. With the successful implementation of the project, the life span of the monument will be prolonged and flow of tourists, scholars and researchers from home and abroad would be increased considerably, says the proposal that needs final approval of Punjab government before it is included in the ADP 2018-19.
Officials have proposed that the damaged salt-affected walls of the monument needed to go through the process of underpinning with fine dressed bricks. Sheesham door, Wooden perforated windows (Jali), Kankar lime and glazed lime plaster needed to be restored.
Proposal also included repair of domelets, construction of boundary wall, corridor at the entrance, lime terracing, brick flooring and needed facility of electricity. The project is proposed to be completed in two years and cost has been assessed at around Rs 15 million.
