MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 17th Apr, 2018 ) -:Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) organized awareness and training session to guide farmers about cotton cultivation and its management.
Farmers,hailing from village Jhandeerwala, district Muzaffargarh, joined the special training session. Director CCRI Dr Zahid Mehmood informed the farmers about research studies carried out in the institute.
He also suggested optimum use of modern technology for higher quality and enhanced yield of cotton. Incharge Plant Physiology and Chemistry Dr Fiaz Ahmed highlighted the importance of soil and water analysis.
He informed the farmers about proper and proportionate use of fertilizers.
Incharge Plant Breeding and Genetics Dr Muhammad Idrees informed farmers about different varieties of seeds and their characteristics.
Dr Naveed Afzal,Incharge agronomy highlighted methods to prepare soil, samples for lab tests, eradication of weeds and balanced application of fertilizers. Plant Pathologist Sabahat Hussain guided the farmers about different diseases of cotton plant and extended useful suggestions.
Incharge Insect department Dr Rabia Saeed delivered detailed lecture on how to control pests. Mehr Ejaz local farmers representative, Ahmed Bilal director South Asian Sourcing Private Limited were also present.
