MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 14th Feb, 2018 ) :Punjab agriculture department has started the process of providing seedless kinnow and quality date trees to farmers and earmarked Rs 780 million for this purpose.
The government is spending such a huge amount to provide trees to farmers with an objective to ensure easy and bumper availability of fruits and improve financial condition of the farmers. The date trees are being provided to farmers hailing from Bahawalpur, Multan, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bhakkar and Rahim Yar Khan districts.
Similarly, the farmers of district Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Mandi Bahauddin, Vehari, Sahiwal, and Layyah are being given Kinnow trees.
Date trees will be given free of cost while kinnow trees at subsidized prices.
Farmers could get forms from office of project director/horticulture research station Bahawalpur while the forms of kinnow are available at Office of Director Citrus Research Station. Farmers could also download forms at website www.agripunjab.gov.pk.
