MUZAFFARGARH, (Muzaffargarh.City – 20th Dec, 2016 ) : The district government has launched action against sale, import and use of polythene bags, following emerging complaints of it blocking sewerage system, damaging environment and leaving fatal impact on crops.
District officer Syed Ashfaq Ahmad said on Tuesday that polythene bags under weight of 15 micron had been banned under Ordinance 2002, Rules 2004.
He said the violators could be booked with Rs 50,000 fine or three month imprisonment or both punishments.
Meanwhile, DCO Shukat Ali said that over 54 cases had been registered against the persons involved in illegal purchase/sale of polythene bags of below 15 micron thickness in different parts of the district until now. He said that overall 119 manufacturing factories had been sealed in the country under the law.
