MULTAN, (Muzaffargarh.City – 28th Jan, 2019 ) :Multan Eclectic Power Company (Mepco) lodged cases against 5,476 power pilferers during the last four months.
Mepco Spokesman Jamshaid Niazi told APP here on Monday that during a crackdown from October 2018 to January 2019, 8,227 power pilferers were fined across the region.
He said that 687 power pilferers were booked in Multan circle, 1,345 in DG Khan circle, 604 in Vehari, 644 in Bahawalpur, 433 in Sahiwal, 830 in Rahim Yar Khan circle, 462 in Muzaffargarh and 141 in Bahawalnager circle and 330 pilferer were booked in Khanewal circle.
He said that the district administration, police and Mepco task force were participating in the crackdown, adding that Rs 249 million fine was imposed on pilferers for stealing 15.3 million electricity units.
